Outstanding: Six Quilts From Germany Among the Winners
The 29 German quilts that were accepted and judged for the XXII edition of the World Quilt Competition New England have already completed three stops on their exhibition journey through the USA. After the premiere at the World Quilt Show New England in Manchester, New Hampshire in mid-August, they went to the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravagance in Oaks, Pennsylvania in September and then to the Pacific International Quilt Festival in Santa Clara, California in October.
And as it has become a beautiful tradition in the past years, all works will also be shown together at one event in Germany, the PatchworkD Days 2019 in Dinkelsbühl at the end of May/beginning of June.
Highest Quality
There you can personally have a look at the current WQC quilts from Germany and convince yourself of the variety of techniques and the impressive quality of the work. And of course you can also admire the winning quilts, talk shop with the artists present and choose your own personal favorite as usual. After evaluating the voting slips, we will then select the audience favorite among the WQC 2018 quilts from Germany.
Proud Price Yield
As Germany coordinator for the WQC, I am of course delighted that “my” ladies have performed so successfully this year as never before! The worldwide competition was extremely strong, which further enhances the six (!) prizes awarded to German quilts – both in the category “Traditional” and in the category “Innovative”!

- Best Hand Workmanship (category “Traditional”): “Heliotrope” by Andrea Stracke
- Best of Country Award for Germany: “Before Dawn” by Petra van den Daele
